As the club is recognized by both the American Kennel Club and the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of America, we work to support and encourage lovers and owners of the breed in the Northern California region. In addition to sharing our knowledge and experience with Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers, we promote sportsmanlike competition at conformation shows and performance events such as obedience and agility. Breeder members work to improve the breed as defined by the breed standard as approved by the American Kennel Club. As members, we accept and abide by the Code of Ethics of the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of Northern California.

A Little History of the Club
| 1978 | SCWTCNC was formed. |
| 1986 | SCWTCNC hosted the SCWTCA National Roving Specialty on 4/12/86 in conjuction with the NCTA Spring Cluster of Specialty Shows |
| 1993 | 1st SCWTCNC Specialty! It was held OUTDOORS in the parking lot of Cal Expo in the pouring rain with gale-force winds. Tornadoes were even reported by the National Weather Service less than 10 miles away. It was indeed a day to remember. |
| 1995 | Specialty moves INDOORS with Group judging in “The Plaza” — also the 1st 3-day weekend as Sacramento KC goes back-to-back Saturday & Sunday |
| 1996 | Specialty is now part of the 1st NCTA Group Show (NCTA was Cluster Specialties in the past) |
| 1999 | Specialty moves to one large building with all judging indoors, including Obedience |
| 2000 | Specialty has its 1st 4-day weekend as NCTA goes back-to-back Thursday & Friday |
| 2001 | Circle of Friends! |
| 2002 | 10th SCWTCNC Specialty Show … Puppy Love! |
| 2003 | SCWTCNC’s 25th Anniversary Celebration! |
